How La Compagnie du Fret handles more freight with Guided

More than 5,000 loads posted to loadboards and more than 40,000 carrier contacted since launch.

La Compagnie du Fret is a Lyon-based freight forwarder specializing in multimodal transport. It organizes domestic and international shipments, including full loads, groupage and exceptional transport.

For several months now, a Guided agent has been freeing up time for the LCDF team by posting loads to the load boards and engaging with the most relevant carriers to qualify their availability.

LCDF receives more requests than its team can process

LCDF’s team covers its transports the way every forwarding desk does: contacting partner carriers, posting the load to the freight exchanges, then chasing the carriers most likely to run it. The team does not have time to work every request.

That limit shows up mostly in peak season. The team prioritizes the most urgent transports, and the ones nobody has time to work may never get placed by LCDF. For a forwarder, that is potential revenue left on the table.

Customers send their transport requests in different formats, with a number of details: the nature of the goods, dimensions, dates, truck type, the equipment needed. Publishing one ad on the load boards takes a few minutes. Multiply that by dozens of requests a day, and a few minutes of routine work become a major drain on the team’s productivity.

Guided agents posts the loads and contacts relevant carriers

The team sends one or several loads to the agent. Guided reads the request, extracts the load details, posts the ads to the load boards, writes to the relevant carriers, and identifies the ones with availability. The team then decides who gets the load.

The agent selects carriers most likely to reply. It targets carriers that have already run the lane for LCDF, and those actively searching that lane on the load board. It also takes the carrier’s own characteristics into account, including truck type, the kind of loads it takes on and equipment.

When a detail of the transport changes, the team corrects the agent simply by replying to its confirmation email. If a length is wrong or if a search is no longer available, the team can just notify the agent by email to make the update.

If an edge case specific to LCDF’s freight comes up regularly, Guided adds it to the agent’s memories.

"As a business owner, I'm happy to work with Guided because they understood our teams specific needs and adapted the product to it."

LCDF works loads that previously stayed in the inbox

The team now works loads that previously sat in the inbox because nobody had time to post them and contact carriers. Brokers can put that time into negotiating rates, securing loads and winning more business.

"In an increasingly competitive field, where service is taking on a bigger and bigger role, it is essential for us to have real tools that save us time on the tasks which, however necessary, don't directly generate value or profit. That is exactly where Guided proves its worth for my team and for me. It lets us simplify and streamline some of our day-to-day tasks, save time and, above all, focus more on our core business and on the work that genuinely adds value. That ability to give us time back on the operational side while making us more efficient day to day is, to my mind, the real value of Guided."
